Yummy Breakfast Alert: Overnight Oats!

For me oatmeal is one of the meals that can not be replaced by any other meal once you taste it. A lot of times I tried creating new breakfast options, but I always went back to my oats. I have always loved oatmeal. Even the time I was clueless about how good and healthy it is for you. It’s warm and easy to customize cereal. You can add whatever you want and give it a different taste everyday (of course, when I say add whatever you want I don’t mean that you should add oreos on top😉) And! Because plain oats are just so boring, I suggest mixing in or topping it with your favorite healthy additions. What I usually put are seeds like pumpkin, sunflower, chia, flax, almonds, walnuts or other healthy nuts. You can also add some frozen berries or any other fruit that you like.

I know that most of you guys would say …. “Well that sounds yummy but I don’t have time to prepare it in the morning!” No worries then, I have a solution for you. I’ve found a recipe that requires about one minute of preparation the night before and ensures that you get to complete at least one of the morning goals every day.

Ladies and Gentlemen meet the easiest and healthiest breakfast of all time: overnight oats.  You can quickly put everything I mentioned above together the night before (namely oats and some sort of liquid) and you have a ready to go breakfast in the morning. You can also put it in the microwave if you want it warm, or if it is cold at the place where you live, this will be perfect to warm up your mornings.

If you are a morning person and you want to have a morning workout session two hours after your breakfast then I will suggest you put vanilla whey protein in the oatmeal. Not only it will give it a delicious vanilla taste but it will also satisfy you with the amount of protein you need.

Here is one of my favorite recipes :

  • 2 big spoons of oats
  • 1 cup of coconut milk (almond milk, soy milk, or just plain water)
  • 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein
  • 1 table spoon of chia seeds
  • 1 table spoon of flax seeds
  • 1 table spoon of peanut butter
  • fresh or frozen berries or strawberries on the top

The night before you should mix the ingredients in a small jar. Give it a good shake and place this delicious combo in the refrigerator, then get a good night’s sleep.

The magic happens overnight!
