It was a beautiful day and I was walking down the streets of Milano. The smell of pepperoni pizza and the perfect Italian gelato was making me go crazy. I couldn’t resist the temptation, and decided to have a TREAT! When having a treat, it probably ends up being you and your favorite ice cream, your favorite cheesecake, maybe some pizza or a huge burger with fries, a milk shake and maybe even another burger having a date. Sounds like heaven, right?
The worst part about these days is, the feeling of guilt after it ends.When you look yourself in the mirror , and ask “why did I eat this much”?
Once a cheater, always a cheater! Real talk! Once you start cheating with food, you will do that very often. I would advise you to do it occasionally. On birthdays, holidays, or on some days when you feel like “today’s a day to treat myself good with my favorite treat”(I am not speaking to those of you who think that should be every day😂).
Honestly, I don’t like having those days very often, just because I’m aware that I am not strong enough mentally. So, the feeling after is awful, I hate myself and my food baby bump and I feel like I need to get rid of it asap.
That’s why, it’s much easier for me when I say that I will have just one treat than let myself cheat all day.
I know a lot of people that have “cheat days” and I think to myself, “why do you need a whole day of bad eating?”. Treating yourself doesn’t mean that you have to go super wild and have a double cheeseburger, pizza, deep fried burrito and donuts. Also you don’t have to plan this day, just let it come naturally, meaning it should be a spontaneous moment when you feel that you need a treat, then give yourself that treat(again, I am not talking to those of you who think that would be all the time)! Something that you really, really want and crave. For example, I love pizza and ice cream, but I don’t schedule a day to eat pizza, I just eat it occasionally when I simply want to eat it, or when I see it or smell it in front of me and I can’t resist, I will take a piece or five:) All jokes aside, the most important part about having treats is knowing when to stop. Don’t overeat, don’t disturb your stomach or just don’t create that “feeling guilty” mood, because trust me you won’t be able to get rid of it for days .
Work out! Sweat! Run! You will feel better after it, and your mindset will be set for some healthy meal or a post workout smoothie for your bootie. But don’t go crazy with your workout session… Make it a regular one!
Also, try to detox as much as possible. Drink a lot of water! Water will help you flush the calories away…
One more thing when you treat yourself… Enjoy it! Love it! Feel it!
I mean, after all it’s a treat and it doesn’t happen that often, so make it remarkable and do it slowly. Using this tactic, you will probably end up eating less and you will avoid overeating.
If you really don’t know how to control yourself, I would recommend you stick to your healthy balanced regime. Don’t let those treat moments destroy your fitness goals or make you hate yourself. If you do it, do it for pleasure, not because you have to! Because you can’t change it or do anything about it anyhow. Put it behind you and move on!
It’s ok guys. Be naughty for a day! But from tomorrow I need your motivation and your goals higher than ever!
