Once, I heard someone saying “life is just a bowl of cherries.” While I was eating cherries the next time after that, I started thinking about that phrase. I instantly understood that this delicious, tasty, red fruit makes life enjoyable and full of smiles. These little red friends are perfect for snacking and one of the best ingredients for making smoothies (your booties will love the taste too, I promise 🙂
You know it’s summer when you see that the grocery stores are all red and cheerful because of this superfruit. The cherry season is short and they are not available throughout the year, so don’t be silly, keep an eye out in your area for cherry season, buy some, and enjoy them however you want. As a snack or in your next smoothie it works perfectly either way. If you are one of those people who love snacking on cherries and think that they taste perfect, I have a good news for you: They also make an extremely tasty smoothie ingredient.
This fruit is a perfect, healthy choice for your smoothie. It contains both vitamin C and dietary fiber. It is very sweet at the same time, and it will make you feel as if you are eating a lot of sugar or calories, but no worries. They are just one of the sweetest fruits you will ever find and that’s why your smoothie will be ideal when you crave some sugar. The aftermath will be, you feeling as if you have eaten a cherry pie ( almost ):)
One more thing that I know about the cherries which I want to share it with all the fitness rats, is that cherries and cherry juice are very good for recovery post-exercise because of their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I have even read some studies which showed that athletes who consumed cherries experienced better recovery from intensive trainings, compared to when they drink any other fruit juice. So, I guess now you won’t have any doubt about smashing some cherries or drinking a cherry smoothie.
The first time I prepared these cherry smoothies was during the winter with frozen cherries, and it was ridiculously good! Once the cherry season arrived, I knew this fruit would be my favorite for my everyday smoothies, and indeed, it BECAME my favourite and still IS ! This yummy, verry cherry smoothie is like a cherry on top which on top itself has another cherry, if that makes any sense 🙄
Anyways…. I hope you all enjoy this cherry smoothie recipe!
