I am a true avocado lover. I even want to go as far as admitting that I can’t imagine a day without this green, mighty thing. Even when you don’t see me eating it, very professionally and secretly I sneak it into my booty smoothies. It just makes them so creamy and yummy.
When I was younger, I didn’t like it that much because I just didn’t understand its purpose. It didn’t give me any taste, it was turning brown very fast and I know, thinking back at it that I was just missing out on it’s deliciousness. When I was in San Diego, one of my friends introduced me to it, properly. Like any avocado deserves to be introduced ! She removed the avocado from the skin and mashed the avocado flesh with a fork, then squeezed fresh lemon juice into it. She put this mixture on a toast and gave it to me and trust me, I enjoyed it and I wanted even more. Next time I met with my new friend avocado was when I ordered an avocado smoothie. I loved it. Third time, I prepared the holy guacamole, and I instantly felt in love with it (felt, yes, because I don’t like using fell). So that’s how this true love was just growing and growing.
I’m always surprised and sort of shocked when I hear that there are people out there who don’t like these little, yet mighty, green friends. I really believe that it is only because they were not introduced properly to this goddess. So for all of you reading this, I will recommend you one thing! One of the best ways to eat avocado is when you don’t know it’s there at all. You need it blended, in a smoothie, and that’s all. The magic happens right after that!
The most interesting part is that, not just is it delicious, but it is a very healthy fruit too (yes, it’s a fruit). A fruit that is full of good fats and lots of vitamins. The good fats that it contains are really tough fighters against the heart disease and can also make your bad cholesterol go down.
Also, what I – and I believe most of the fitness rats love about the avocado, is that it actually contains protein. The amount of protein depends on the size of the fruit, but about 100 grams of avocado contains 2 grams of protein.
Hands down, this is one of nature’s finest superfoods. Eating avocado can definitely make you feel healthy and happy. And that is what we all want, right?
My favorite part is when I add an avocado into my green smoothie because it just really makes it the yummiest treat ever. You will need a spoon for this because it has the creamiest, almost pudding-like consistency. Kind of like an avocado nutella pudding! But without the nutella:)
1 frozen banana
1 cup of water
1 avocado, mashed
1 tablespoon honey
5 ice cubes
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
And for a grand finale, I like to add a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Just because I love the vanilla taste, and just because it makes it perfect for my protein daily intake.
Enjoy this creamy smoothie in the morning for breakfast or as your snack after workout.
