Its Monday again and I am starting it off the right way, with this blueberry and watermelon smoothie!
August is a month that can be quite unpredictable, so much that I feel we are in the month of October sometimes, but so far we have had really good weather over here. Regardless of the weather, summer never really ends until the watermelon season does.
That’s why you shouldn’t waste your summer without watermelons, my dears.
Every year I use the heat in the summer as my excuse to eat as much watermelon as I can. To me it’s the perfect summer fruit. Cool, sweet, refreshing, and healthy! Today I decided to replace my morning smoothie with a simple Watermelon Blueberry Smoothie.
I used frozen watermelon and blueberries, leave the ice out for this recipe. Both watermelon and blueberry consist of a lot of water, which makes them a great way to keep yourself hydrated after a sunny day. Watermelon is also full of fiber and vitamin C, both needed for a healthy body. Blueberries are a very good source of vitamin K, vitamin C and manganese. Now it is clear that blueberries and watermelon are incredibly healthy and nutritious. The fact that they are sweet, colorful, and can be enjoyed both fresh and frozen, is just a tasty bonus.
This smoothie is so easy to make, it’s perfect for breakfast or a light snack. It’s not very filling so you might want to add some whey protein or serve it as a side with a small bowl of oatmeal or healthy seeds. In any case, it is really refreshing and the watermelon gets balanced nicely with some blueberries and honey.
Add the watermelon, blueberries, whey protein, and some honey drizzled into your blender. Add 1-2 teaspoons chia seeds for some nice texture and protein to this yummy smoothie. Blend up your smoothie until it’s a nice creamy texture.
This blueberry watermelon smoothie couldn’t be easier to make and the flavors are really refreshing. After all, who doesn’t love watermelon?!
Enjoy this last bit of summer while you can!
